BAGRÉ – The first class of students incubated in the agro-sylvo-pastoral field celebrated their official graduation on Thursday under the patronage of the President of Faso, represented by Minister of State and Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo. The event marked the conclusion of a 12-month training program aimed at developing agricultural skills in young professionals.
According to Burkina Information Agency, each of the 44 graduates, consisting of 30 boys and 14 girls, received an installation kit valued at 11,000,000 FCFA. The kit included essential tools such as a motor cultivator, motor pump, tricycle, seeder, and spraying equipment, as well as improved seeds, fertilizer, a 600,000 FCFA operating budget, a certificate, and a lease contract for a hectare of developed land. This marks the first group of students to complete the incubation program, which focuses on crops such as maize, rice, cowpea, soybeans, and orange-fleshed sweet potatoes.
In a speech delivered by Minister Ouédraogo, President Ibrahim Traoré praised the students, calling them “true Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland of development” and urged them to contribute to the country’s goal of food self-sufficiency.
The graduation ceremony was led by Professor Adjima Thiombiano, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, and sponsored by Commander Ismaël Sombié, Minister of Agriculture, and Dr. Aboubacar Nacanobo, Minister of Economy and Finance. Professor Thiombiano outlined a vision to establish incubation centers in every region of the country based on local agricultural potential.
