EMBU: Grade six pupils in Embu County are poised to undertake the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams starting Monday, October 28. Preparations have been finalized, with assessment materials secured and security measures in place, according to local education authorities.
According to Kenya News Agency, County Director of Education Kosgei Kipruto confirmed that all necessary assessment materials have been received and are securely stored in 10 examination containers throughout the county. Speaking from his office, Kipruto detailed that 12,843 pupils will be examined in 489 centers, comprising 384 public and 105 private assessment venues.
Kipruto assured that comprehensive preparations have been made for the examinations, including finalized security arrangements for the distribution of materials to the centers. Additionally, he mentioned that 14,520 candidates have commenced their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, starting with practicals on October 21, across 209 ce
nters. The county also accommodates 169 private candidates, who will sit for their exams centrally at Embu Urban Primary School in Embu Town.
County Commissioner Jack Obuo stated that adequate security personnel have been deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations. Examination containers are under constant surveillance, each guarded by armed police officers.
Both officials have urged motorists and churches near examination centers to mitigate noise pollution to provide a conducive environment for candidates. “We are appealing to motorists to stop hooting and churches to minimize noise emanating from their instruments during this period of examinations,” Kipruto emphasized.
