Kisii: Governor Simba Arati called for the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices to support the food needs of the 1.2 million residents of Kisii County. Speaking at the World Food Day event held at Kisii Stadium, Arati emphasized the potential of Gusii's fertile soil in boosting agricultural output through diversified farming. According to Kenya News Agency, the governor addressed local farmers, highlighting the importance of cultivating a variety of crops to ensure food security and stimulate the local economy. "We must plant not just for today, but for the future to ensure that our families are well fed and our markets are vibrant," said Governor Arati. He pointed to the necessity of resilient crop varieties that can withstand the challenges posed by climate change, ensuring sustainable agricultural practices that align with environmental conservation. Further, Governor Arati discussed the significance of education in fostering community development, particularly through vocational training. He u rged parents to consider enrolling their children in Vocational Training Centers, especially those who did not qualify for degree programs, to equip them with practical skills that can contribute to the socio-economic growth of Kisii County.
