Ouagadougou: The governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, urged new high school graduates to make well-considered choices of fields of study, in line with their skills, their aspirations and the needs of Burkina Faso, during an information and guidance workshop organized Monday in Gaoua for their benefit by the Regional Directorate of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (DRESRI) of Dj´r´.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the activity provided an opportunity to present the different training programs offered by higher education institutions and to raise awareness among prospective students about the importance of making an informed choice of course of study that is adapted to the needs of the country.

On this occasion, the governor of Dj´r´, Siaka Barro, congratulated the new baccalaureate graduates and urged them to make well-considered choices of fields of study, in line with their skills, their aspirations and the needs of Burkina Faso. The governor stressed the need for new high school graduates to benefit from expert advice and parental support before making any career choices. He also stressed that successful guidance is a determining factor for students' academic success and professional integration.

According to the regional director of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Dj´r´, Raogo No«l Gansonr©, this activity is part of the continuation of the National Information and Guidance Week initiated by the ministry in charge of Higher Education. For him, it aims to bring new high school graduates from different regions of Burkina Faso closer to information about available training opportunities.

'Participants were informed of the opportunities offered by both public and private universities in the country. The presentations focused on the various training and research units, as well as the career prospects of the programs presented,' he added.
