Governor Praises MININT’s Role in Safeguarding Public Security

Benguela: The Provincial Governor of Benguela, Manuel Nunes Júnior, praised the role of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT)'s personnel in safeguarding public order and tranquility. His remarks came during an event commemorating June 22, marking the 47th anniversary of MININT. According to Angola Press News Agency, the governor highlighted the responsibilities of MININT bodies, which include protecting others, ensuring public order and security, and safeguarding the inviolability of national borders. He emphasized the personnel's commitment, noting that they have successfully fulfilled their roles through great sacrifice and rigorous training, whether in challenging weather or dangerous situations, allowing families to sleep peacefully. Manuel Nunes Júnior urged the personnel to strive for greater rigor, excellence, and effectiveness in institutional innovation, emphasizing that true innovation starts with empathy towards citizens. He stated that officers should be seen as sources of support rather than i ntimidation. The governor assured that the Benguela Government would continue to collaborate closely with the entire MININT structure, supporting the progressive improvement of living conditions, workplace infrastructure, and social welfare. He highlighted the province of Benguela as a key driver of the Angolan economy, facilitated by the Lobito Corridor and advancements in fisheries, agriculture, and tourism sectors. In his view, the province is poised for significant economic growth across various fields in the coming years, necessitating a strong security system. He noted that the social stability guaranteed by MININT could serve as the "oxygen" for economic growth and prosperity. On the occasion, the governor presented a certificate of commendation to the MININT delegation for its 47th anniversary, along with certificates of merit to 500 personnel who served during a calamity that affected numerous families.
