Ziniare: The governor of the Oubri region, Hadja Assetou Sy Barry/Traore, organized on Monday, at her residence in Ziniare, a collective breaking of the Muslim fast and the Christian Lent, bringing together faithful of both faiths and administrative authorities around a fraternal meal.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, held in a context of shared penance among religious communities, aims to strengthen social cohesion and interreligious harmony. "Beyond the gathering, the initiative places understanding and social cohesion at the heart of administrative action. It is also an opportunity to pray for our country," said Pascal Compaore, a devout Christian participating in the event for the third time.
For Imam Cheick Sadou Tapsoba, a preacher and Muslim leader, the action is "beneficial" and in line with the values of Islam, which "enjoins working for social cohesion and harmony." He praised the initiative, which has become "a tradition" for the governor.
The governor explained that this meeting stemmed from a desire for communion and shared prayer. "It is fortunate that the Christian Lent and the Muslim fast coincide. We wanted to build fellowship, ask God for forgiveness, share a meal, and pray for the return of peace," she stated, calling for solidarity and sharing.
After the break, the participants shared meals and offered prayers for peace and stability in Burkina Faso, reaffirming the importance of living together and solidarity between religious communities.
