Governor Orengo Addresses Security Concerns on World Fisheries Day

Siaya: the government has initiated the distribution of fingerlings to local farmers to enhance fish production. However, Governor James Orengo has raised concerns about the security challenges in Lake Victoria, particularly the harassment of Kenyan fishermen by Ugandan security officials.

According to Kenya News Agency, During the World Fishing Day celebration at Liunda Beach, Governor Orengo emphasized the need for diplomatic talks between the Kenyan and Ugandan governments to resolve the border dispute in Lake Victoria. He pointed out that this ongoing conflict is adversely affecting fish production in the lake, underscoring the importance of finding a resolution to ensure the safety and productivity of local fishermen.
