Governor of Tunis refuses to authorise rally by National Salvation Front

Governor of Tunis, Kamel Fekih, has refused to authorise a march by the National Salvation Front scheduled for March 5, said the governorate.

The decision was taken due to the suspicion of crime of conspiracy against state security attached to some leaders of the Front, it added.

The Front had submitted a request to the Tunis governorate to organise a march from «Place de la République» to Habib Bourguiba Avenue, through Avenue Paris.

For the Salvation Front, this march is being organised to protest against “political arrests and the violation of individual and collective freedoms”.

Three leaders of the Salvation Front, Chaima Issa, Ridha Belhaj and Jawhar Ben Mbarek, were arrested in connection with the case of conspiracy against state security.
