Sissili: The governor of Nando is counting on the unity of civil society to strengthen security and revive development. For his very first official visit to Sissili, the governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean Yves Bere, placed social cohesion at the heart of his message on Friday, calling on the vital forces of Sissili to “stand together” to consolidate peace and accelerate provincial development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference room at Leo town hall, packed this Saturday, served as the venue for a meeting between the regional authority, various government bodies, and representatives of different social groups: youth, women, traditional chiefs, and religious leaders. Welcomed by the High Commissioner of Sissili, Tewende Isaac Sia, the governor emphasized that this visit was driven by a need for closer ties with the local population and stakeholders. He stated, “no development policy can succeed if it is not built on ongoing dialogue with those who experience the realities of daily life.”
The frank and open discussions highlighted the priorities of the people, which include strengthening the security apparatus, rehabilitating national roads No. 13 and No. 20, and increasing support for agropastoral production, a true pillar of the local economy. The coordinator of civil society organizations, Azizou Yago, welcomed the governor’s initiative, which he said demonstrates genuine responsiveness to a border province that plays a strategic role in the region.
In response to the concerns raised, the regional authority commended the resilience of the Sissili residents. He encouraged them to continue their solidarity efforts in support of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), reminding them that “security is only effective when everyone is committed to it.” On the issue of infrastructure, the governor indicated that appeals have already been made to the relevant ministries and that responses are expected in the coming months.
This introductory visit, focused on unity and collaborative development, concluded with a renewed commitment from key stakeholders to support the governorate’s initiatives, in a context where social cohesion is more crucial than ever as a driver of stability and development.
