Governor of Koulse Urges Citizens to Fulfill Tax Obligations at Launch of Tax Compliance Days

Koulse: The governor of the Koulse region, Colonel-Major Z. Blaise Ouedraogo, urged the constituted bodies and citizens of the region on Monday to fulfill their tax obligations, on the occasion of the launch of the 4th edition of the Days of Exemplary Tax Practice in the province of Sandbondtenga.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch ceremony was marked by the raising of the national flag. These days aim to promote tax compliance and good governance. The governor reiterated that tax revenue is a crucial lever for financing security, infrastructure, and basic social services.

The regional director of taxes, Sanwonba Koutou, stated that his department mobilized more than 2.5 billion FCFA in 2025 for the national budget and nearly 3.5 billion FCFA for local authorities, with forecasts for an increase in 2026. He emphasized the importance of citizens paying their personal taxes, including the residence tax, vehicle tax, and gun tax.

Colonel-Major Blaise Z. Ouedraogo declared that "national sovereignty depends on strong tax revenue collection." To set an example, he visited the tax office to pay his residence tax. He stressed the importance of paying personal taxes as a means of nurturing and maintaining the hope of overcoming challenges, encouraging administrative officials to lead by example to gain the support of the population.
