Governor of Bengo Reaffirms Commitment to Progress and Well-being of the Population

Bengo: The provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Ant³nia Nelumba, reaffirmed her government's commitment to the progress, unity, and well-being of all Bengo residents. She paid tribute to those who have contributed to the region's growth during her message on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of Bengo Province.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the governor emphasized that the anniversary, celebrated on April 26, marks a significant milestone in the history of the province. She noted that the date symbolizes the resilience and strength of the people who continue to build a better future through work and hope. The governor highlighted Bengo's natural resources, cultural richness, and living traditions as critical factors in the region's economic, infrastructural, and social development.

Maria Ant³nia Nelumba mentioned the construction of two urban centers and social housing units to improve living conditions. She announced plans to build five thousand social houses and allocate land for self-directed construction this year. Health and education sectors have also seen developments, with a modern hospital and three higher education institutions established in the province.

The governor also pointed out the growth of economic enterprises in the Barra do Dande Economic Zone and other areas, creating over three thousand jobs. She stressed the importance of stimulating private investment in agriculture and integrated economic development, given the province's potential.

Despite challenges in water and electricity supply, efforts are underway to initiate approved projects. The governor expressed hope that the anniversary would inspire continued dedication to strengthening peace, promoting education, valuing culture, and creating opportunities for future generations.

Bengo Province, established on April 26, 1980, holds historical and cultural significance. It spans approximately 31,371 square kilometers and features a significant hydrographic network essential for agriculture and water supply. The 2024 Census reports a population of approximately 716,335 inhabitants across 12 municipalities.
