Wote: Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has announced that Makueni County Government has allocated 10 acres for the construction of 700 houses under the affordable housing scheme in Wote town. The disclosure came during the celebrations of Mashujaa Day in Matiliku Town, Nzaui Sub County.
According to Kenya News Agency, Governor Mutula emphasized that the project aims to provide decent living conditions and access to quality housing for low- and middle-income families in urban areas. He detailed the collaboration with the State Department for Housing and Public Works to formalize and title various national housing schemes in Wote town. “This year’s Mashujaa Day theme focuses on affordable housing; a key deliverable in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to ensure that especially low- and middle-income families in urban centres can live a decent life,” said Mutula.

heme includes necessary investments in water, sewer systems, roads, and energy infrastructure. Additionally, he addressed the youth’s role in the county’s development, announcing plans for youth engagement forums. These forums are set to culminate in a county conference in December, aiming to prioritize projects for the next funding cycle.
During the event, Makueni County Commissioner Henry Wafula assured residents of security measures for the upcoming national examinations starting October 22 and emphasized parental responsibility during the festive period. Makueni Member of Parliament Susan Kiamba also spoke on local infrastructure needs, advocating for the tarmacking of Emali-Ukia Road, completion of Thwake Multi-Purpose Dam, and prioritizing local residents for employment opportunities at Konza Techno City.
