Governor Extends Ban on Livestock and Food Transport in Mouhoun Region

Mouhoun – The governor of the Boucle du Mouhoun region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, has reaffirmed the suspension of livestock and food transportation from Nayala and Sourou provinces for another six months due to ongoing security concerns.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Governor Bassinga signed the extension on June 26, 2024, continuing the ban that first took effect on February 27, 2023. The extension, set to last from July 1 to December 31, 2024, aims to address the persistent security issues in the Nayala and Sourou provinces.

The decree mandates that the high commissioners of Nayala and Sourou, in collaboration with competent technical services, will evaluate the need to evacuate livestock and food to marketing areas on a case-by-case basis. This decision must be made with all necessary security precautions in place. Additionally, the decree warns that any violations will lead to the confiscation of goods for the benefit of the patriotic support fund and may incur further criminal sanctions under existing laws.
