Governor Advocates for Enhanced Technical Capacity in Resource Transformation

Cuito: The governor of Bié, Celeste Adolfo, on Friday, advocated for greater human intervention with high technical capacity in the transformation of existing natural and strategic resources in the region. This call was made during the opening ceremony of the Economic Forum on the Advantages of Investment in the Central Region of the Country and its Impact on the National Economy, as part of the III edition of Expo/Bié in Cuito, the capital of Bié province. According to Angola Press News Agency, the governor emphasized the region's wealth in strategic resources, including mineral, agricultural, tourism, water, and forestry. She underscored the need for exploration and investment to transform these resources into economic growth and improved living standards for the population. She stated, "It is important to transform these resources taking into account their economic impact in favor of the development of the economy and the improvement of living conditions for families." Celeste Adolfo also highlighted the critical role of the Lobito Corridor in fostering socio-economic development in this Central Region of Angola, particularly in Bié province. The corridor plays a vital part in the transportation of people and goods and in enhancing tourism, trade, and progress among the local communities. The governor announced that the forum aims to assess the economic sector's performance over the past four years, addressing challenges, achievements, and strategies to boost local production. She urged participants to engage deeply with the topics discussed to find solutions to issues in the productive sector. The event features discussions across three panels. The first panel focuses on "Foster Production by Promoting the Introduction of ICTs in the Production Process," covering topics like technological solutions for agricultural production and strategies for cereal and legume production in Bié. The second panel addresses infrastructure support for the productive sector, discussing the importance of industrial parks and the Lobito Corridor in supporting production and trade. The third panel centers on access to financing, analyzing the roles of banks and insurance in facilitating investment initiatives.
