Dundo: The government of Lunda-Norte is committed to enhancing the business environment by implementing measures to simplify processes, improve road access, and expand energy and water infrastructure, as stated by the local governor, Filomena Miza.

According to Angola Press News Agency, during the opening of the 3rd edition of Expo-Dundo, Filomena Miza emphasized the local government’s efforts in collaboration with partners to mitigate the impacts of the ongoing global economic and financial crisis. The initiatives include improving access to main tourist attractions and production fields through earthworks, as part of a broader strategy to improve the province’s infrastructure.

The province boasts a road network of 3,600 kilometers, with 1,187.2 km paved and 2,412.8 km unpaved. Miza highlighted partnerships with companies to enhance communication routes through earthworks, pending the availability of funds for asphalting.

Miza also noted the importance of energy and water for attracting private investment. The government has been investing in sustainable and cost-effective energy projects, including the Luachimo hydroelectric dam, the Dundo thermal power plant, and the Lucapa photovoltaic park, which collectively produce 85 megawatts. Additionally, three solar plants are being developed in Cafunfo, Cuango, and Cambulo, with plans to install 15 photovoltaic plants across municipalities, aiming for a production capacity exceeding 100 megawatts.

These investments aim to create favorable conditions for national and foreign business ventures, providing essential infrastructure and institutional support. Miza urged investors to explore the province’s industrial and tourist potential, promising necessary governmental backing.

The 3rd edition of Expo-Dundo, coinciding with Lunda-Norte’s 47th anniversary and Angola’s 50th independence anniversary, will feature over 200 exhibitors and anticipates a turnover of 400 million kwanzas. The event showcases sectors such as diamonds, entrepreneurship, banking, tourism, technology, agriculture, and insurance.
