Malanje: At least 924 families in Malanje have been allocated 1 hectare of arable land each for agricultural production for the years 2024-2025. This initiative is part of the government’s Integrated Program for Local Development and Poverty Reduction (PIDLCP).
According to Angola Press News Agency, the local governor, Tom¡s Mabiala, announced that the distribution also included agricultural seeds, pens, and pigsties. However, he expressed concerns that the amount of land distributed fell short of governmental expectations, as more households were anticipated to benefit. The PIDLCP aims to alleviate the population’s difficulties by creating better living conditions.
Governor Mabiala acknowledged that the government plans to meet with municipal administrations and public managers responsible for the PIDLCP in the coming days to investigate the reasons behind the shortfall in land distribution to peasant families.
He also noted that the PIDLCP has achieved satisfactory outcomes in water and basic sanitation over the past year, and the government intends to continue its efforts in these areas to fulfill the population’s needs through the implementation of this and other programs.
The Integrated Program for Local Development and Poverty Reduction (PIDLCP) is an initiative by the Angolan Executive to combat poverty and enhance human development and well-being. It seeks to elevate the population’s standard of living through economic and social inclusion, distributing land and agricultural credits, among other measures.
