Government Delegation Visits Barsalgho Following Terrorist Attack

BARSALGHO – In a show of national solidarity and support, a high-level government delegation led by Minister of State and government spokesperson Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo visited Barsalgho on Monday afternoon to offer condolences and support to the victims of a deadly terrorist attack that occurred on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation included Minister of Security Mahamadou Sana, Minister of Humanitarian Action Nandy Somé/Diallo, and the Head of State-Major General of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Célestin Simporé. This visit came after a similar outreach in Kaya the previous day. The delegation expressed the nation’s grief and solidarity with the residents of Barsalgho, where the attack resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.

Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo addressed the community, emphasizing the government’s commitment to both the immediate recovery efforts and the longer-term security enhancements in the region. He assured the community that the government would cover medical treatments and was actively working to bolster both humanitarian aid and security measures.

The local response was one of gratitude, with the chief of Barsalgho appreciating the government’s quick action and emotional support. The delegation’s visit, which also included offering encouragement to local military and medical personnel, highlighted a unified national effort to combat terrorism and restore peace in the affected areas.
