Government Delegation Galvanizes Troops in Leo Ahead of New Year

Sissili: A government delegation, led by Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, Emile Zerbo, visited the provincial military detachment in Leo on December 31, 2025, carrying a message of support from President Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso. The delegation commended the commitment of the Combatant Forces and received blessings from traditional authorities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the visit aimed to show solidarity with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) stationed in Leo. Minister of State Emile Zerbo, accompanied by Minister Delegate in charge of Regional Cooperation, Bebgnasgnan Stella Eldine Kabre/Kabore, conveyed the President's congratulations and encouragement to the troops for their achievements and future efforts in reclaiming the territory.

Commander 'Foroto' briefed the ministers on the security situation, emphasizing control over the terrain and collaboration between the Defense and Security Forces, the Volunteers, and the local population. In his speech, Zerbo highlighted the Nation's recognition, wished a speedy recovery to the injured, and extended New Year's greetings. He reiterated Captain Ibrahim Traore's attention to the troops' efforts and urged continued vigilance.

Foroto responded positively, affirming the troops' morale and determination. A private voiced the troops' appreciation for the authorities' support, highlighting unity and readiness for upcoming challenges in 2026. The delegation also visited the royal palace, where His Majesty Lio-Pio Dan-Zw¨, canton chief of Leo, offered blessings for peace and protection.

The visit concluded with a sense of strengthened cooperation between the government, military, and civilian populations in restoring national integrity, reflecting a positive military and patriotic atmosphere within the detachment.
