LOROUM: A government delegation, led by General Célestin Simporé, Minister of State and Minister in charge of Defense, visited Titao on December 11, 2024, to deliver a message of support and encouragement from Captain Ibrahim Traoré to the residents. The visit comes as Titao continues to face significant challenges due to terrorism.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation included several key ministers: Mahamadou Sana of Security, Robert Lucien Jean-Claude Kargougou of Health, and Sosthène Dingara of Primary Education. Their mission was to convey Captain Traoré’s message of resilience and hope to the Loroum province’s population, which has been severely impacted by terrorist activities. General Simporé assured the community of the army’s progress in reclaiming territories, with the full liberation of the Ouahigouya-Titao national road anticipated soon.
The Minister of Defense highlighted ongoing initiatives aimed at restoring peace in the province, urging the residents to remain united and t
o trust in the country’s victory against terrorism. Emphasizing the importance of peace and social cohesion, he invited displaced Burkinabe to return home.
In education, Minister Sosthène Dingara commended Titao’s residents for their sacrifices to sustain educational activities. He announced the gradual return of teachers and the arrival of necessary equipment to support educational efforts. Community facilitators were also praised for their role in ensuring educational continuity over the past three years.
Health Minister Robert Lucien Jean-Claude Kargougou acknowledged the efforts of healthcare workers in providing care under challenging conditions. He confirmed the impending return of public health staff and the supply of pharmaceutical products to the province.
Titao’s local leader, Naaba Wadga, expressed gratitude for the delegation’s visit and the government’s efforts to reclaim the territory. He noted the relative calm achieved with the presence of BIR 24 in Titao and highlighted the importance of r
eopening the national road, resuming education, and ensuring the supply of agricultural inputs. Naaba Wadga also called for the restoration of essential services such as electricity, running water, and healthcare facilities to further improve the situation in Titao.
