Gourma: The Minister of Agriculture Ismaël Sombié exchanges with the actors of the Eastern region

The new Minister of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Commander Ismaël Sombié exchanged with the actors of the rural world of the Eastern region this Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Fada N'Gourma.

It was at the start of the winter season when part of the population of the Eastern region abandoned cultivable land because of insecurity that the Minister in charge of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries, the Commander Ismaël Sombié discussed on Tuesday July 4, 2023 with the actors in this field.

The exchanges focused on the current concerns of the actors and allowed the Minister to immerse himself in the situation of the wet countryside in the region.

Thus, the regional director in charge of Agriculture in the East, Sibiri Ouédraogo depicted the situation of the agricultural campaign and the support that producers have received from the State and its partners.

According to the regional director, the agricultural campaign has settled in relatively satisfactorily this year because as early as May the region had already recorded useful rains.

For the endowment of producers, Mr. Ouédraogo suggested that the State and its partners support them with more than two thousand tons of agricultural inputs, with different types of seeds for this campaign.

Then, Commander Ismaël Sombié collected the expectations of these producers focused on safety. On this point, the Minister indicated that the government is aware and that measures are taken as a priority in the affected regions for the return of peace so that Burkina Faso can remain standing.

The minister invited the farmers to be resilient and to produce more because the government will play its part in their support.

The President of the Eastern Regional Youth Council, Fimba Ouôba welcomed the Minister's field visit because for him, Agriculture and livestock are the first sector that feeds the population so it is very important that the various actors can meet to talk about it.

He also appreciated the support of the State in fertilizers but, according to him, the major concern of the producers is access to land.
