Gourma: National Gendarmerie Provides Aid to Internally Displaced Women and Vulnerable Populations

Gourma: The national gendarmerie, through the Fada N'Gourma company, conducted a donation event on Tuesday aimed at assisting internally displaced women and vulnerable individuals in the commune. This initiative was in partnership with the Union of Religious and Customary Leaders of Burkina-Health and Development (URC/SD).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation, which comprised clothing, buckets, and various other supplies, was handed over by Captain Moriyamba Ky, the commander of the Fada N'Gourma gendarmerie company. This act of giving is intended to provide relief to vulnerable groups, especially internally displaced women, as the end-of-year holidays approach.

Captain Moriyamba Ky highlighted that this gesture is part of a larger effort to demonstrate solidarity and support for communities impacted by the ongoing security challenges. "Given the current situation, many people are in need. We felt it was essential to contribute to supporting these vulnerable groups and to strengthen the spirit of solidarity as we approach the holiday season," he stated, extending wishes for health, peace, and security in 2026.

The URC/SD, which encompasses Catholic, Protestant, and Muslim denominations as well as women, expressed appreciation for this timely support. The regional representative for the East, El Hadji Talouta Dioni, conveyed his gratitude to the national gendarmerie, noting that this donation bolsters the ongoing assistance provided to vulnerable populations. He also offered prayers for the enduring return of peace and security to Burkina Faso.

Through this initiative, the national gendarmerie reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside local communities and religious and customary organizations, fostering a synergy of actions that promote social cohesion and the well-being of the population.
