Gourma: The municipality of Fada N'Gourma launched activities commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Municipal Police, under the patronage of the President of the Special Delegation (PDS), Kampadilemba Jerome Idani. Placed under the theme "Municipal Police, thirty years in the service of the population: assessment and perspectives," the President invited all to reflect on the progress made and to envision future challenges.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Fada N'Gourma Municipal Police, established in November 1998, has been performing administrative policing missions for 27 years to ensure peace, hygiene, safety, and order within the municipality. Despite challenges such as terrorism, the influx of internally displaced persons, and rapid urbanization, the Municipal Police has remained resilient and proactive, emphasized the PDS.
The PDS paid tribute to municipal employees and encouraged the local population to enhance their cooperation with this vital institution. The director of the Fada N'Gourma Municipal Police, Inspector Yacouba Nakarey, honored the memory of the institution's pioneers and expressed gratitude to all contributors to its ongoing operations. He highlighted the importance of spiritual solidarity, noting that responsibility is founded on faith.
Commemorative activities, scheduled from November 30 to December 13, 2025, include a civil-military cross-country race to foster cohesion between the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the community, open days, and a large road safety awareness parade. These events aim to honor past and present contributors while envisioning a more effective municipal police service.
The municipal community recognized the efforts of individuals and organizations by awarding certificates of recognition for their contributions to the institution.
