Gourma: The Secretary General of the Gourma province, Yaya Koné, officially launched a project called “Green Credit” in Fada N’Gourma. The initiative aims to bolster the capacities of vulnerable populations affected by climate change through Income Generating Activities (IGAs).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the project seeks to support women, breeders, farmers, hunters, fishermen, and other groups in the W-Arly Pendjari cross-border area. This is facilitated by the National Fund for Inclusive Finance through the Adap-WAP Project, which focuses on integrating climate change adaptation measures. The project is funded by the Sahel and Sahara Observatory.

The Director General of the National Fund for Inclusive Finance, Wango Fidèle Yaméogo, stated that the Green Credit is designed to implement the microfinance component of the Adap-WAP project in the Eastern region. He explained that the initiative supports vulnerable populations through various forms of credit, including joint and several guarantees
, individual credit, and group credit, depending on their needs.

The Green Credit initiative will be executed by two microfinance institutions: the Association Base FAN DIMA (ABF) and the Mutuelle d’Epargne et des Crédits de Fada N’Gourma. A significant focus of the project is to ensure that at least 40% of the beneficiaries are women.
