Gourma: The constituted bodies of the Gourma province carried out, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Fada N'Gourma, the first solemn raising of the national colors of the year 2026. Presided over by the secretary general of the Gourma province, representing the High Commissioner, he invited public servants to make 2026 a year of discipline and dedication to public service.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the flag-raising ceremony took place on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Fada N'Gourma, in the presence of administrative, military, paramilitary authorities, and officials from the decentralized technical services of the State. The Secretary General of the Gourma province, Botetessan Bonou, who delivered the High Commissioner's message, praised the mobilization and commitment of the constituted bodies around the values of patriotism, civic duty, and national unity.

He invited public officials to make 2026 a year of discipline, dedication to public service, and consolidation of social cohesion in a national context marked by security and socio-economic challenges. As part of the communications on the agenda, the provincial director in charge of sports, Boilihamou Hedwige Ouattara/Lompo, announced the organization of sports sessions for all for the benefit of public service employees.

According to her, these sessions will be held on a rotating basis in the different departments, every Wednesday following the traditional raising of the national colors of the month. Ms. Ouattara indicated that this initiative aims to improve the physical condition of the agents while strengthening social ties and the spirit of collaboration between colleagues.

Furthermore, the chief medical officer of the Fada N'Gourma health district, Dr. Sandrine Bienvenue Sam, informed that medical visits concerning pilgrims from the Goulmou region take place at the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Fada N'Gourma. She also specified that vaccination of pilgrims is provided at the Fada N'Gourma health district at subsidized prices, inviting those concerned to comply with the health requirements within the required timeframes.

The ceremony took place in an atmosphere of solemnity and patriotic fervor, thus marking the official launch of administrative activities for the year 2026 in the province of Gourma.
