The Eastern region registers 13,488 candidates for the CEP session 2023 against 19,700 candidates in 2022, a drop of 6,212 candidates (31.53%), learned the ‘AIB on Tuesday during the launch of the events.
It was at the public primary school Tikonti B in Fada N’Gourma that the secretary general of the eastern region, Issiaka Ouattara opened the first envelope of the tests to announce the official launch of the CEP tests and the entrance examination. entering 6th grade in 2023.
To this end, the regional director in charge of primary education in the East, Kayaba Natama indicated that the security crisis has had a severe negative impact on the education system in their region.
As proof, he noted that the massive closure of establishments had, among other things, a drastic drop in the number of candidates for school exams and competitions in 20023 in general.
Thus, for the current session, a total of 13,488 candidates are registered at the CEP, including 7,346 girls. At the 2022 session, there were 19,700 registered candidates, a decrease of 6,212 candidates (difference of 31.53%) . These candidates went to 70 composition centers, 19 of which were relocated due to insecurity.
Mr. Natama also added that everything is in place for these school exams to go well. But all the same, he underlined some difficulties which cannot taint the smooth running of this session. These difficulties include, among others, the inaccessibility of certain localities by road, the poor quality of the telephone network and the absence of birth certificates for certain internally displaced students. He hinted that there are student heads of households who move as part of the review often face food difficulties or other basic needs
