Fada n'gourma: The Fada N'Gourma 2 Basic Education District (CEB) has officially launched its 2026 sports and cultural season. The event took place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, during a ceremony that featured a robust turnout and a range of sporting and cultural performances. Presiding over the ceremony was Lamoudi Tankoano, Head of the Fada N'Gourma 2 CEB and President of the Organization for Sport, Culture, and Primary Schools (OSCEP). This year, a total of fifty-one schools are participating in the competition.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the theme for this year's event is "Resilience and citizenship through the practice of sport and culture at school." The CEB emphasized the significance of this theme, describing it as a vital moral and educational guide given the current circumstances. It was highlighted that sport and culture play crucial roles in fostering collective resilience, social cohesion, and the civic education of students.
Secretary General of OSCEP 2026, Bouraogo Diapa, noted that 51 schools are actively participating in this year's competition. He acknowledged the inclusive nature of the event, which unites both girls and boys in a spirit of excellence, camaraderie, and fair play.
The season's launch was characterized by several activities, including an aerobics session, traditional dances, artistic ballets, and a football match between the Hamtouori 'A' school and the Banhama school. On the field, the Hamtouori "A" team quickly gained an advantage, scoring in the 11th minute following a defensive mistake by the Banhama team, which struggled to equalize despite multiple attempts.
The grand finale of the sporting and cultural season is set for May 16, 2026. It promises to deliver further opportunities for camaraderie, healthy competition, and the showcasing of academic talents.
