Gourma: The Todi Yaba Association for Development, with the support of its partners, distributed food and dignity kits to 450 internally displaced students from the commune of Kantchari in Fada N'Gourma on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in the presence of administrative authorities, education system stakeholders, parents, and beneficiaries.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony is part of a dynamic of support for students forced to leave their home locality for security reasons to continue their schooling in the city of Yendabili. The kits provided include essential food items like rice, soap, and hygiene products, aimed at improving the living conditions of the learners, with a total worth exceeding 6 million CFA francs.
The High Commissioner of the Gourma province, Silas Nacanabo, welcomed the initiative of the association and its partners, emphasizing that taking care of internally displaced students is a collective responsibility. He expressed satisfaction with the solidarity displayed, which supports these students in their academic journey. "Internally displaced students are the responsibility of us, the provincial authorities, but structures like the Todi Yaba association for development come to reinforce our actions," he indicated and invited the beneficiaries to cultivate solidarity, mutual aid, and to redouble their efforts in their studies.
For the president of the Todi Yaba association for development, Fid¨le Kanlanfe Damba Ouoba, this action aims to provide moral and material support to displaced students facing challenges, particularly in terms of food and school support. He stressed the importance of giving special attention to this vulnerable group to prevent school dropouts. Mr. Ouoba also specified that this initiative is made possible thanks to the support of partners such as the association Les Amis de Kantchari and the association Loos N'gourma.
