Gourcy: The Gourcy 2 Basic Education District (CEB) wrapped up its 2025 sports and cultural season with a significant fundraising event, gathering over 500,000 FCFA to support local combat forces. The closure was marked by a football final held at the Gourcy “A” school on May 3, 2025, where Bisnaba school emerged victorious over Kouksin school with a score of 1-0.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the 2025 season, which started on November 20, 2024, under the theme “For a just, inclusive and resilient society, let’s be patriotic,” saw participation from 56 teams. The final match, won by Bisnaba through a penalty goal in the second half, concluded the season. The winning team received a trophy, jerseys, a ball, and 50,000 CFA francs.
Before the match, a parade performed by CEB students took place, followed by a fundraiser that collected 545,325 francs to aid the local fighting forces. District chief Patoim Sankara explained that students, parents, and teachers contributed between 25 and 100 francs to support the Forces de D©fense et de S©curit© (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), enabling the reopening and normal functioning of schools in the province.
Sankara expressed gratitude towards all participating stakeholders and partners for their physical and financial contributions, which were crucial to the season’s success, especially the final phases featuring various competitions such as athletics, cycling, and arts.
Zondoma’s Provincial Director of Education, Karim Sawadogo, expressed satisfaction with the demonstrated commitment and patriotic spirit within the educational community, which he believes deserves recognition and encouragement. Under his leadership, the collected funds were handed over to President of the special delegation of the commune of Gourcy, Bosso To© Kaba T©r¨, for transmission to the appropriate authorities. The event was sponsored by Souleymane Sawadogo, President of the Management Committee of the Zintoessin school in Gourcy 2.
