Gorgora Eco Resort Celebrates Integration with Ethiopian Culture and Nature


AMHARA REGION, ETHIOPIA – The Gorgora Eco Resort, part of Ethiopia’s ‘Dine for Nation’ initiative, has been hailed by UN officials as a pivotal development for promoting culture, nature, and tourism in the region.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, and Director for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Division at UNIDO, Aurelia Patrizia Calabro, the resort represents a state-of-the-art ecotourism facility, seamlessly integrated into its natural surroundings.



Alakbarov emphasized the resort’s design, which harmonizes with the local landscape and forest without causing disruption, underlining its significant role in fostering cultural exposure and boosting tourism. He noted the resort’s capacity to generate employment and provide economic benefits, crucial for local development. Additionally, Alakbarov applauded Ethiopia’s commitment to environmental sustainability through its Green Legacy initiative, recognizing its leadership in combating global climate change impacts.



Aurelia Patrizia Calabro shared her admiration for the resort’s location and its embodiment of Ethiopian heritage, describing Gorgora as a “jewel” on the historic Lake Tana. She praised the project’s community involvement, particularly in empowering local women through job creation, and highlighted the importance of integrating such models into broader gender development strategies.
