Gnindjounté Kambiré Officially Takes Charge as Provincial Director of Environment in Ioba

Dano—On Thursday, October 19, 2023, the High Commissioner of Ioba province, Bernadette Adenyo née Sermé, officially installed Gnindjounté Kambiré as the new Provincial Director of the Environment (DPE) of Ioba in a ceremony held in Dano.

According to Burkina Informational Agency, the event took place in the meeting room of the Dano High Commission and was attended by both incoming and outgoing provincial directors of the Ioba environment. Gnindjounté Kambiré, an inspector of water and forest, was appointed to his new role by the council of ministers on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

In his address to the assembly, Kambiré emphasized the importance of preserving, protecting, and restoring natural resources. While acknowledging that these resources are part of the State’s heritage, he insisted that local populations who rely on these resources for their livelihood should be the primary beneficiaries. Kambiré called for adherence to current laws governing the use of natural resources and asked for collaborative efforts from various partners to preserve biodiversity and safeguard the environment.

Gnindjounté Kambiré also expressed his hopes that local authorities would contribute effectively to environmental protection. He encouraged water and forestry officials in Ioba to work closely with the communities, stating that mutual respect and support are crucial for achieving their objectives.

Sami Dabiré, the outgoing DPE, served for over four years in the role and has been reassigned as the provincial director of the environment for the province of Bam. In his departing remarks, Dabiré thanked provincial authorities and other partners for their collaboration and expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to face upcoming challenges.

Various other officials including Amado Tiendrébéogo, the representative of water and forestry staff in Ioba, and Joël Dinaba, the president of the association of directors and heads of services of Ioba, also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing DPE and welcomed Kambiré into his new role.

Ismaël Rouamba, the regional director of the environment of the South-West, highlighted the security challenges that lie ahead for the new DPE. He stated that water and forestry agents would be involved in territorial reconquest in collaboration with other defense and security forces.

The High Commissioner of Ioba province, Bernadette Adenyo/Sermé, expressed her satisfaction with the performance of the outgoing DPE and praised the team’s contributions to combating illicit practices and enhancing security. She also welcomed Kambiré and advised him to work closely with local communities, especially those residing near forests.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of gifts to the outgoing DPE, Sami Dabiré, from colleagues, partners, and family members in Ioba province.
