Gnagna: Yacouba Thiombiano Encourages Teachers to Persevere and Commit

Gnagna: The Regional Director of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education for Goulmou, Yacouba Thiombiano, met on Wednesday with teachers and education staff from the Gnagna province in the meeting room of the DPEPPNF (Regional Directorate of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education) in Bogand. This exchange provided an opportunity to address the professional concerns of those working in the sector and to explore ways to improve the education system.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional director first recalled the special ties he maintains with the province of Gnagna during the meeting. "This is like home. I drank Gadjini water and fished in Sorgha in the 1980s," he said emotionally, eliciting agreement and applause from the audience.

The discussions focused on several major concerns raised by teachers, including the management of professional careers, the organization of school sports, the implementation of the Primary School Certificate (CEP) in the national language, the training of those responsible for teaching national languages, and the lack of teaching materials and equipment in some educational structures.

Addressing the issue of school infrastructure and equipment, Mr. Thiombiano reassured participants that measures are being taken to improve working and learning conditions. He specifically indicated that desks and benches are available at the regional level in Fada N'Gourma and could help meet the expressed needs.

Regarding career management, the regional director explained certain administrative constraints that could slow down the processing of files. He urged staff to ensure compliance with current procedures and to provide all required documents, including tax clearance certificates, in appointment files.

He also encouraged staff whose files are pending to calmly continue the administrative procedures while fulfilling the required regulatory conditions. "With commitment, patience, and perseverance, you will achieve your goals. Continue to learn, train, and believe in your potential," he advised the teachers.

The regional director also urged education stakeholders to make the Month of Arts and Culture a genuine opportunity to promote local values. According to him, this initiative should allow students to better understand their culture, strengthen their identity, and ensure the transmission of ancestral knowledge and skills to future generations.

In turn, the provincial director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education for Gnagna, Sylvain Thiombiano, praised the regional director's approach, describing it as a grassroots initiative demonstrating attentive listening to those working on the ground. He expressed his gratitude for the visit, which, in his view, "strengthens the motivation of the teams and restores teachers' confidence in the gradual resolution of their concerns."

At the end of the discussions, the participants praised a meeting rich in lessons learned, which provided answers to several concerns and strengthened dialogue and trust between the educational administration and field actors.
