Malindi: More female candidates are sitting this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations compared to their male counterparts in Malindi Sub County of Kilifi County. Out of a total of 4,692 candidates who began their examination papers on Monday, 2,409 are females, while the males number 2,283, as stated by Sub County Director of Education Rashid Roba Adan.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mr. Adan, while speaking after distributing examination papers at the Malindi Deputy County Commissioner’s office, stated that the examinations are being conducted in 50 centres, with 52 secondary schools presenting candidates for the tests. “We have a total of 52 schools which presented KCSE candidates, but two of the schools are being hosted in other schools,” Mr. Adan explained.
He confirmed that all examination and security officials had been adequately briefed on the conduct of the examination, emphasizing the strict measures against any involvement in examination irregularities. The directo
r stressed that all examination centre managers and invigilators would need to surrender their mobile phones to their respective supervisors, ensuring they are kept secure until the end of the examination.
Further measures included a prohibition on allowing any unauthorized individuals into the examination centres, which includes teachers employed by Boards of Governors. Malindi Deputy County Commissioner David Lusava highlighted that adequate security personnel had been deployed to all 50 centres, ensuring a smooth start to the examinations in the two sub-counties, Malindi and Langobaya, which have separate examination containers.
