The police at Rundu are investigating a case in which a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by four boys at Ndama on Thursday.
Acting Namibian Police (NamPol) Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner Eino Nambahu, told Nampa on Friday that the incident reportedly took place at around 21h00 next to the fish shop at Ndama.
Nambahu noted that the girl who recognized one of the boys was brought to the police station by her parents at midnight and was attended to by police investigators from the gender-based violence unit, who took her to the Rundu State Hospital for a medical examination.
Police have not yet arrested any of the suspects yet, but are in the process of doing so, he said.
In a related incident, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 26-year-old man at Ncuse Village on Wednesday in the Kavango East Region.
It is alleged that the suspect who is a cousin to the girl, found her in her room fully dressed in her school uniform, grabbed her and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
