Etunda: An eight-year-old girl allegedly drowned in a water canal at Etunda village on Friday, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has reported.
According to Namibia Press Agency, deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the girl slipped into the canal while fetching water and drowned. 'Her next of kin have been informed and investigations continue,' she said.
In an unrelated incident, the police in the Oshana Region are investigating a case of theft after N.dollars 12 441 in cash was stolen from Omwandi Service Station in Ondangwa. According to Shikwambi, the money had been placed on top of a safe in the office. 'The incident was recorded on CCTV. No arrest or recovery has been made yet and police investigations continue,' she said.
In a separate incident in the Omusati Region, the body of a 21-year-old Angolan man thought to have committed suicide was discovered hanging from a tree with a white cloth around his neck. The incident allegedly occurred at Oshifo settlement in the Ruacana Constituency on Saturday. 'No suicide note was found and police investigations continue,' said Shikwambi.
