President Hage Geingob has been invited by Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, to attend the United Nations Group of 77 (UN G77) plus China Summit scheduled for September 2023 in Havana, Cuba.

The G77 is made up of developing countries aimed at articulating and promoting common economical interests, as well as enhancing South-South cooperation for development.

Presenting the official invitation to Geingob at the State House on Tuesday, Cuban Ambassador to Namibia, Sergio Vigoa De La Uz, also revealed that Diaz-Canel has expressed interest to visit Namibia in August 2023.

At the same event, Geingob welcomed the Cuban President to Namibia.

“I met the president. I was a minister of trade and jokingly he said, I will take over as president. So we come from that background…It was a long journey of difficult times… So of course we will see how we can fit in to attend the meeting,” he said.
