Geingob celebrates Bishop Dumeni at 94

President Hage Geingob has extended a celebratory message to Retired Bishop Kleopas Dumeni, who turned 94 on Wednesday.

‘Today, I join the Dumeni family, the clergy and Namibians at large in celebrating the 94th birthday of a man of the cloth and a people’s Bishop who dedicated his life in service of Namibians and the region,’ Geingob said in a statement.

Dumeni, he said was a steadfast supporter of Namibia’s fight for freedom who used the gospel and the Word of God as an emancipatory tool to champion the equality of all Namibians, irrespective of tribe, race and class.

‘Our meetings in exile demonstrated a sense of urgency to the cause of freedom, unity and development of the Namibian people,’ he said.

Geingob maintained that after independence, Dumeni has continued to preach unity, development and values for an inclusive Namibian House.

‘My family and I have throughout the years benefitted from his advice, fellowship and prayers. Therefore, on his 94th birthday, I join Namibians in remembering and
celebrating his life of sacrifice and wish him good health and strength. May the Lord continue to grant good health to Bishop Dumeni,’ said Geingob.
