Gayéri Health District Launches Major Malaria Prevention Campaign for Children

GAYÉRI — An advocacy meeting for the 2024 seasonal malaria chemo-prevention campaign (CPS) was held on July 23 at the Gayéri health district, aiming to combat malaria among young children.

According to Burkina Information Agency, The meeting, convened by the High Commissioner of Komondjari province, focused on educating various community stakeholders—including parents, media representatives, and local leaders—about the malaria prevention campaign. According to health officials, the campaign involves administering intermittent doses of antimalarial drugs to children aged 3 to 59 months during peak malaria transmission seasons. The campaign’s schedule includes four rounds, targeting progressively increasing numbers of children, starting with 55,624 in the first round and planning to reach 59,648 by the fourth round in the Gayéri health district.
