Gauteng Legislature virtually convenes annual Worker’s Sector Parliament, 29 Jun

Tuesday, 29 June 2021 will see the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) convene its annual Worker’s Sector Parliament, a platform to critically discuss the impact and implications of Covid-19 on the lives of working Gauteng residents.
The Sitting will present an opportunity for labour organizations, as representatives of the working class, to engage with the Legislature and Provincial Executive and explore how the current environment can be navigated to protect the livelihoods of Gauteng households. The Worker’s Parliament will also analyse the government’s response to the pandemic through social and economic packages and the impact thereof.
Discussions for the day will focus on:
• How the pandemic changed the world of work.
• ICT and its impact on workers.
• Cost of data and its impact on the world of work.
• The Role of Labour Unions in assisting Workers.
• Reflecting on the success of minimum wage bill approval.
• How Labour Unions are supporting women amid the pandemic.
• The Role of Government in supporting businesses and workers.
• Supporting and Protecting the Informal Sector.
• The Impact of the Stimulus package on the protection and creation of employment and addressing youth unemployment.
