Garissa: Several schools in Garissa County erupted in celebrations following the announcement of last year's KCSE results by Education CS Julius Ogamba. Private schools in the county continued to excel, surpassing public secondary schools for the second consecutive year.
According to Kenya News Agency, students and staff at Al-Azhar High School were jubilant as they celebrated their remarkable performance. A total of 219 candidates achieved the minimum university entry points. Anis Osman Ahmed, one of the top performers with a B+, credited his success to hard work, discipline, and support from teachers, parents, and fellow students. Ahmed expressed gratitude for the guidance and unwavering support he received.
James Ondiko, a long-serving teacher at Al-Azhar, praised the school's teamwork and commitment, attributing their success to divine grace and dedication. "We are as an institution super excited with the results. It is through God's grace that we were able to get one A-. At least 219 students attained the university minimum entry grades," he said. Ondiko emphasized the endless nights spent preparing candidates for the exams.
Among the top performers was Rawdha Alinoor Hassan from Mwangaza High School, who scored an A-, positioning her among the top candidates in the Northeastern region. Rawdha expressed her gratitude to her teachers, parents, and the entire school community for their support, highlighting the sacrifices made to achieve her success. She aspires to pursue a career in medicine to address the shortage of doctors in the region.
Selina Chembeni, a teacher at Mwangaza, acknowledged the students' discipline, consistency, and hard work as key factors in their success. She emphasized the importance of cooperation among parents, teachers, and students in maintaining strong performance.
Feisal Abdinoor, the top student at Garissa Progressive High School, also scored an A- and attributed his achievement to discipline and humility. He encouraged other students to remain grounded and dedicated, stating that success requires perseverance and effort.
