GARANGO — Citizen monitoring associations in the municipality of Garango have successfully raised 425,000 CFA francs to purchase surveillance drones, bolstering efforts to reclaim territory and enhance security in the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the funds were handed over to Adaman Kamboné, the mission manager of the President of Faso for the Center-East region, in a ceremony on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Timothée Zombré, President of the special Garango delegation, emphasized that the initiative, which began on June 5, 2024, was part of a broader effort to support national armed forces and their auxiliaries in the fight against terrorism.

The fundraising campaign, initially scheduled to end on August 10, was extended until August 31, 2024, due to the strong response from the public and the urgent need to enhance surveillance capabilities. Zombré encouraged other municipalities in the region to follow Garango’s example and contribute to strengthening security operations, regardless of the size of their contributions.
