GAOUA — In a vibrant celebration of Eid-el Kebir, also known as Tabaski or the sheep festival, the Muslim community of Gaoua gathered on Sunday at the Place de la Révolution. The event was marked by prayers and sermons emphasizing peace, stability, and social cohesion, led by Imam Abdoul Salam Sissako of the great mosque of Gaoua.
According to Burkina Information Agency, who conducted the prayers and the subsequent sermon, the congregation was urged to uphold values of peace, tolerance, and mutual coexistence. He prayed for the protection and success of the nation’s security forces and implored divine support for social harmony among the people of Burkina Faso. The cleric also prayed for favorable weather to ensure a successful agricultural season.
In attendance were administrative, military, and customary authorities, including the governor of the South-West, Boureima Savadogo, who acknowledged the Muslim community’s contributions to peace and social cohesion. Governor Savadogo highlighted the security improvements in the region, attributing them to the collective prayers of the community and encouraged continued prayers to maintain these gains.
