Ganzourgou Students Embrace Burkinabe Heritage to Honor Teachers

Ganzourgou: Students of the provincial high school were invited on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, to promote Burkinabe heritage and to be grateful to their teachers during the rotating raising of the national colors in the administrations of the province of Ganzourgou. "This day would like us to magnify our culture, and for this culture to carry us as high as this flag that we have just raised," declared the principal of the Provincial High School, Joseph Pafadnam. For him, this ceremony contributes to the civic education of students and is an opportunity for them to recognize and express gratitude to their teachers for the training they received.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner of the province, Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, reminded the students of the profound meaning of this commemoration. For her, Heritage Month is a time of identity and memory, a key time to honor and magnify the very essence of the nation: cultural heritage. Ms. Sorgho urged the students to draw strength from indigenous values to fuel their commitment to Burkina Faso's development.

"This theme questions our ability to make our culture an economic driver, a lever of innovation for our artists, our artisans, but also for all of our businesses," she emphasized. The High Commissioner also paid a vibrant tribute to teachers, pillars of national education and builders of the future, while encouraging students to draw inspiration from their educators and to cultivate love of the country.

Students were invited to participate en masse in a storytelling evening on May 14, 2025, as part of Burkinabe Heritage Month. Established in April 2023, "Burkinabe Heritage Month" is in its third year. Under the theme "Cultural Heritage and Economic Development," the 2025 edition will take place from April 18 to May 18.
