Ganzourgou: The Zorgho multi-sports stadium was the stage for the grand finale of the cultural and sporting activities organized by the Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education of Ganzourgou (DPEPPNF) on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Bourma ‘A’ School emerged victorious, securing the football trophy against M©guet ‘B’ School in a gripping match.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event saw participation from the nine basic education districts (CEB) of the province. It was held under the auspices of the High Commissioner of the province, Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, and the sponsorship of El Hadj Cheik Omar Bonkoungou, CEO of the Sah©lium company. This year’s theme, “Sports and culture at school: essential levers for peace and social cohesion,” underscored the importance of the event.
The day commenced at the Zorgho youth center with cultural performances, showcasing traditional dance, ballet, storytelling, recital, and playback. Mankarga V3 “A” clinched first place in traditional dance, while Bo©na “A” excelled in playback. The schools of Kambambori “A”, Salogo “B”, and N©dogo “A” dominated the ballet, storytelling, and recital categories, respectively. All participating schools received cash prizes.
The highlight of the event was the football final between Bourma “A” School/CEB de Boudry 2 and M©guet “B” School/CEB de M©guet. Bourma “A” secured victory with a 5-3 win on penalties, earning a trophy, a ball, a set of jerseys, and 60,000 CFA francs. M©guet “B”, N©dogo “A”, and Rapadama FA also received awards for their commendable performances.
Nobila C©lestine Zagr©/Zoungrana, the provincial director in charge of primary education, expressed satisfaction with the successful competitions. She commended the involvement of stakeholders and partners, emphasizing the educational values and social cohesion promoted by sports and culture.
In her closing remarks, the High Commissioner applauded the dedication of teachers, students, and partners. She emphasized the power of collective effort and commitment, stating, “Through collective work and commitment, we can accomplish great things.”
The event concluded with a promise to reconvene in 2026 for another spectacular edition, leaving attendees with a sense of hope and unity.
