The first investigating judge at the First Instance Court of Gabés issued Wednesday three detention warrants for former minister of agriculture Mohamed Ben Salem, a colonel in the Customs Administration and a former Ennahdha MP, said First Deputy Public Prosecutor and official spokesperson for Gabés First Instance Court Mounir Aroum.
Investigations involving three more people are underway, the official further told TAP on Wednesday. One of them is arrested on terrorism-related charges in a separate case and another was granted provisional release.
Charges brought by the public prosecutor include planning to leave the country illegally. Mohamed Ben Salem is facing the additional charge of illegal possession of foreign currency after TND 12,000 and 2,120 euros were found in his possession.
