G20 Unveils Global Alliance Aimed at Tackling Hunger and Poverty.

Rio de Janeiro: The G20 unveiled the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty to promote the implementation of country-led, country-owned programs focused on alleviating hunger and poverty globally. This initiative aims to strengthen global partnerships for sustainable development, as highlighted in the G20 Rio de Janeiro Leaders' Declaration released on Tuesday. According to Namibia Press Agency, the G20 leaders have renewed their commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity sustainably and reducing food loss and waste. They emphasized the interconnectedness of nations in achieving food security, nutrition, safety, and sustainability through open trade policies aligned with WTO rules. The leaders reiterated their dedication to the United Nations Development Agenda, emphasizing assistance to developing countries in integrating into global industrial, value, and supply chains while accelerating their industrialization and modernization processes. Acknowledging the detrimental impact of corruption on sustainable development, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to combat corruption and associated illicit financial flows, pledging to lead global anti-corruption efforts by example. They emphasized the World Health Organization's central role in global health coordination, supporting the drafting of a WHO convention or agreement on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response, while respecting the sovereignty of individual states. The leaders underscored the importance of quality education and training, particularly digital education, as crucial for sustainable socio-economic growth. They recognized the cultural sector's role in fostering solidarity, dialogue, collaboration, and cooperation. Additionally, they advocated for open discussions on the return and restitution of cultural property, including that which was illegally exported. The leaders also reaffirmed the necessity of open and mutually beneficial international cooperation in research and innovation, as stated in the declaration. The G2 0 Rio de Janeiro Leaders' Declaration was formalized during the 19th G20 Leaders' Summit, which commenced on Monday.
