Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron’s approval rating has dropped by three percentage points over the past month to 22%, nearing a historic low, according to a poll conducted by the Verian agency for Le Figaro Magazine. This marks Macron’s lowest approval rating since his re-election.

According to Burkina Information Agency, efforts by Macron to distance himself from his government and assume a more presidential role have not had the expected impact on his popularity. The strategy of stepping back and recalling memories of past political cohabitation has failed to resonate with the French public.

In contrast, the new Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, has an approval rating of 32%. The survey was conducted online between September 29 and October 1, with 1,000 adults participating.
