TENKODOGO – A significant health initiative has been launched in Tenkodogo, aiming to provide free medical examinations for 95,457 retirees affiliated with CARFO and CNSS. The program, backed by a substantial budget of 1.7 billion FCFA, kicked off on April 4, 2024.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this annual health service has been a cornerstone of the government’s commitment to its retirees since 2007 for CNSS members and 2009 for those from CARFO. The initiative allows retirees and their surviving spouses to receive comprehensive health check-ups without charge.

State Minister Bassolma Bazié emphasized the dual purpose of the program: addressing the retirees’ health needs and reinforcing the government’s inclusive social policy. Each participant in the program is entitled to not only a physical and laboratory examination but also a medication voucher valued at 5000 FCFA.

The minister highlighted the growth in funding for this year’s program, noting its substantial increase from the previous year’s budget, underscoring the government’s increasing investment in the welfare of its retired population.
