Keetmanshoop: The Kharas governor has urged employees of the division of gender equality, poverty eradication, and social welfare to continue serving the community with dedication. Aletha Frederick made this appeal during the official opening of the year 2025 for the division, emphasizing the importance of creating an environment for all inhabitants in the region to thrive.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Frederick highlighted that the ministry of gender equality, poverty eradication, and social welfare holds the key to hope for the most vulnerable and destitute in communities. She stressed the vital role the ministry plays in advancing gender equality and enhancing the overall social welfare of the region.
Frederick commended the employees' commitment to programs such as social grants, the economic empowerment program for women, and community development projects. She noted that these initiatives have significantly impacted many lives, empowering individuals and families, fostering resilience, and promoting sustainable development within the communities.
The governor also urged the employees to address challenges faced by the elderly, destitute women, girls, young men, and children who beg in the streets, particularly in Keetmanshoop. She called for immediate attention and collective action to find solutions for the most vulnerable members of society, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of a more equitable future for all residents of the region.
The event also served as a farewell for Gaudentia Kr¶hne, who resigned this month and is set to join the August House in March. Kr¶hne, who is eleventh on the Swapo party parliamentary list, has worked at the ministry since 2010. In her farewell remarks, Frederick congratulated Kr¶hne on her elevation and expressed confidence in her ability to represent the region with honor and dignity at the national level.
Kr¶hne urged her former colleagues to continue providing efficient and compassionate service to the community, treating them with respect and kindness as they rely on the ministry for hope and solutions.
