The four accused, Venus Ngobeni, Remember Ngobeni, Jabulani Ngobeni and Yekelina Ngobeni appeared in the Mhala Regional court on the 19 June 2023 facing possession of suspected stolen property, defeating the of justice and Contravention of Immigration Act charges.

The four accused were arrested by the Nelspruit Serious Organised Crime Investigations following the information about the Traffic Officer that was shot and killed in Calcutta. The four accused were arrested at the certain house in Xayayini Trust where the suspected stolen motor vehicle was also recovered.

The case was postponed to 11 July 2023 for decision as the accused defence indicated to the court that they want to make a plea.
