OUAGADOUGOU — On August 17, 2024, the Union of Former Students of the Provincial High School of Boulsa (UAE-LPB) spearheaded a reforestation initiative at their alma mater, planting around 100 trees in an effort to green the school's courtyard. The event, held for the second consecutive year, was chaired by Namentenga Province’s High Commissioner, Adama Conseiga, who commended the efforts of the alumni and the community.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mathieu Bonkoungou, the initiative achieved its goal of enhancing the school environment while also addressing broader environmental concerns. The event highlighted the challenges facing the high school, including the need for building repairs after damage caused by wind, and led to a commitment from the High Commissioner to prioritize the school's rehabilitation, particularly through the involvement of the Parent-Teacher Association (APE).
Participants, including provincial authorities and local residents, were also given a guided tour of the high school, which was established in 1984 and occupies approximately 15 hectares. The visit underscored the school's pressing needs, including improvements to its water supply system, laboratory equipment, and the condition of its buildings. The High Commissioner emphasized the importance of restoring the damaged structure and supported the UAE-LPB’s initiative to construct a new perimeter wall for the school.
The successful reforestation effort and the community's engagement in addressing the high school's challenges were praised by High Commissioner Conseiga, who encouraged ongoing support for the school's future development.
